Location 1 – Heavy Horse Farm: Head North from Fairbanks towards Fox on the Steese Highway. Approximately 3 miles North of Fairbanks you will see an exit ramp for Chena Hot Springs Road. Take a right at that exit and follow CHSR for about 3.5 miles. You will pass a school to the left and then a bunch of fields before you see the road sign on the left for Juniper Road. Once you get onto the gravel Juniper Rd., you simply need to follow the signs along the road to Heavy Horse Farm. 2 wheel drive vehicles are fine. Location 2 – The Field: Directions to the farmers loop location: 652 farmers loop rd from the steese highway turn onto farmers loop and go 2.5 miles, the farm is on the right, there is a big hand painted sign, Heavy Horse Farm. If traveling from the university on farmers loop it is a half mile past the Alaska Dog Mushers association one the left hand side of the road Call 907-457-3601 if you have any questions or need further directions. |
